A sandwich a day!

I have started a little project, which is to make a food art picture from 1 slice of bread a day for a week or two.
And it shall be simple and edible as a breakfast.
But then #2 my son got sick. Then my daughter seems to be getting sick and my head feels wrapped in cottonballs!
Calvin has bronchiolitis, and I can only suspect that we are all crowding up in that same boat...
Anyways, Im sure we'll ride this storm of quickly :)
Ill be adding our sandwich pictures here :)

Pac-man grilled cheese sandwich

Super easy and cute breakfast for a little boy or a gamer-boyfriend/hubby :)

Took about 5 min to cut out the Clyde sandwich with mushroom/olive etes and the pac-man who is just a slice of cheese with olive for eyes.

Then in the grill for about 4 minutes till the cheese is melted!

Camilla Pihl and Rilakkuma

This morning when I woke up, I logged on my facebook and I had this link posted several times by friends of mine.
Camillas post about me
Turns out, the magnificent Camilla Pihl
shared my instagram with her readers! That was beyond cool! Made me humble and very grateful.
Thank you Camilla!

In turn, I made Calvin a breakfast sandwich inspired by Camillas iphone cover.

Here is the result :)

Its a almondbutter sandwich, with blueberries, apple, banana clouds and mango-sun. Butterflies of strawberry and apple. Yum :)

Sneaky fox!

Yummy sandwich!

I just put almondbutter on a sandwich and cut to shape. Blueberry eyes and grape nose and a bit of greek yoghurt to make the snout white.
Strawberry ears, kiwi grass and a little chia-strawberry ladybug :)

Enjoy :))

VW

Volkswagen oldschool van.
Sandwich style!

I put cream cheese on a slice of bread and just cut it to shape (not too happy with this one, might try again!)
And then i cut the cheese to shape. The VW circle was tricky, and is not perfect. Need to practice this!
The bumper and windows are apples, the clouds are cheese and the surfboard is zuccini.

Yum yum in the tum!

0,5!

Our daughter Willow turned 6 months the other day and it was celebrated with a greek yoghurt sandwich shaped like a cupcake!

I am a bit strict with regards to sugar intake and try to keep it at a minimum. Calvin gets a tiny little bit of candy on saturdays, but during the rest of the week he is not getting much sugar at all. A lot of the reason is that he is very difficult with the toothbrushing. Another is that it is great to have some rules around sugar intake for kids.

Whay is your rules around sugar?
Do you have any rules that you just dont budge on that others might find strange or interesting?

Be Brave!

Merida from Brave.

We don't let Calvin watch too full on movies (like cars 2 and brave for example!) but there are some parts in those movies that are really cute that he gets to see. Do you screen your kids movies too?

This is just a simple sandwich with grated carrot hair, zuccini cut eyes, cheese face, capsicum lips and lettuce and zuccini body. Cheese stars and zuccini bow and arrow.

It looks far more complicated than it is. I will put together a tutorial for cutting eyes eventually, but thats easy. :)

Sometimes when my son wakes up from his afternoon nap, he is super cranky. And sometimes i have lunch ready and he forgets his crankiness and sits down to eat instead.
Well, not THAT day! Merida ended up on the floor. Poor girl.

Atleast she was brave ;)

Birdie birdie (+4)

This is two birds on a stroll.

The big bird is made up of a banana sandwich and Mango beek and blueberry eye.
The smaller bird is made of pineapple with strawberry wings and blueberry eye.
Decorated with strawberry butterflies and kiwi flowers. The ground is sliced apple.

Bananasandwiches rock!
Go bananas!

Grrrr Lion

My son thought this was awesome!

Its a peanut butter jelly sandwich!

Cut a round circle of toasted or untoasted bread.
Butter up with peanutbutter and apricot jelly. Then shape the body with a knife. Dont forget the front paws.
Sultanas as eyes and a big grape cut to a triangle as a nose.
Cut rock melon as the mane like shown.
I used cut raisins as the tail and melon for the fluffy tail :) -sultanas are also making the birds.
An orange make the sun and apple makes the ground and sunrays.

Enjoy this little lions sweetness

Super duper Vegesaurus (4+)

This is one of my personal favourites.
The scaly avocado dinosaur!

This was so much fun to make and it was for me, so it was also very green :)
(my son will eat a lot of veg, but not much raw green stuff ;)

I have the dinosaur cutter from chalet, so I just took a piece of sandwich, covered it in avocado, and cut.
The spine plates (?) are triangular shaped zuccini pieces, and the eye and tusks are also zuccini. I just cut an eyeshape. Ill try to take a more detailed picture of how to cut the eye later :)
The sun is a little piece of orange.
The rays are carrot and cheese pieces.
The ground is also cheese.
The tree is a little bit of lemon balm.

Little puppy dog (3+)

Oh, how popular this little pup is with my boy! He loves animals but he is a very big fan or cats and dogs.
I look forwards to the day we eventually get a puppy myself... (dreaming on)

This is very easy if you have a puppy cutter. I used one of Lunchpunch's cutters.

Here is the step by step:

Make a cheese sandwich and cut out the pup.
Cut out a circle in bread for a ball, and spread on peanut butter and add a few strips of apple to create the effect of a ball.
Grate some zuccini length-wise for the grass, cut out two tiny pieces for eye and snout, and cut out two leaf shapes and a long strip for the flower.
A tiny splat of jelly for the flower and a round piece of apple in the centre.
Make the sun from some cheese and carrot.

It is so easy, and makes lunch so much more fun 

This is the cutter I used for my puppy

 Enjoy xxx

The cheddar bear Sandwich (3+)

This was when this became a fun hobby! Our cheddar bear!
Very simple to make!
This is the step-by-step:

Just make a cheese sandwich and punch a hole out for the face
Make two same sized circles of apple for the ears, and one larger one for the nose.
Use five slices from a carrot. 2 for the ears, one for the nose, and two for the butterflies.
Cut the two carrot circles for butterflies in half and turn opposite of each other, forming wings.
Cut one triangle of a red capsicum for the snout, and one long strip for butterfly bodies and mouth.
Finish with 1 black grape sliced in half for the eyes.
And viola ~intro Cheddar Bear :)

Enjoy!
