Eva!

I couldnt NOT make Wall-E's girlfriend, and so here she is, as a part of the sandwichAday project.
And I included a detailed how to aswell!

1: Find a slice of bread

2: Cut the shapes with a good knife

3: put on cream cheese

4: find a black plum

5: make the face in the plum

6: cut the piece of and place on the head.

7: squirt som blue writing icing in the eye holes.

(Not really a way to get around that.. Her eyes are very blue!!)
8: cut a flower in a kiwi same way you did the face in the plum
9: cut a heart in a watermelon
10: serve to the starving and patient kid! (or adult. Or yourself)

This takes about 5-10 min. Depending on how quickly you cut! (But carefully of course!)
And I have to add, maybe use a very soft cream cheese, as mine was very stiff and almost broke my pieces.
Or toast the slice of bread first? Up to you what you like really...
The cut offs of bread can be placed in a bag, and then you can bring your kid(s) out to feed some birdies :))

Enjoy!!

Wall-E!

My almond-pancake Wall-E!
Very happy with how he turned out!

Very simple to make even though I thought it would be challenging.

I just squirted the pieces I needed into the pan with a squeeze-bottle,
Turned them incredibly carefully.
(The eye pieces was not left to fry very long, since they need to be a bit lighter in the colour)
And put them together and decorated with some chocolate spread.
(If you use nutella, mix with a tad of water first. If you use any other spread or sause, just wing it ;)
I used a squeeze bottle with nozzle no 2.

My almond pancake recipe worked well for this purpose, but i thought they were a tad salty.
I used this recipe:

-1 and 2/4 almond meal
(id use clean white almond meal without the peel!)
-1/4 LSA* (or just more almond meal)
-1 tsp baking powder
-3/4 cup almond milk
-1 tsb vanilla extract
-2 eggs
Now it says to use -1/4 tsp salt* and I recon I used 1tsp (and pink himalayan salt which is even saltier) as I read the recipe wrong, so feel free to add a teeeny bit salt if youd like.

-Lightly beat the eggs with the bakingpowder and almond milk.
-Add the almond-meal, whisk around and heat up your pan.
-Use a bit of coconut oil in the pan.
-Put the batter in whatever you prefer to squirt batter with (plastic bag with a cut hole, squeeze-bottle with nozzle or whichever you prefer!)
-Draw the pieces you need in the pan.
(You can practice o a few pieces before you get down to buiz :)
-Then draw and decorate as you please and wow the person you serve it up too! :))
-Maybe serve with some whipped cream on the side? Or whipped greek yoghurt? Or a raspberry-chia sauce?

Enjoy :))

Hello Kitty!

When I was 5 I got a super big and cute Hello Kitty teddy for having been super brave at the dentist. i loved it so much! And the next day, the seams under the arms ripped and when we took it back to the store, they were sold out. I got another teddy instead. it broke my young heart! I have a picture of me and the Hello Kitty and I look so happy. I cried for weeks (maybe a bit emotionally attached?) anyways: since then I have been quite a Hello Kitty fan: i love sanrio! I never got a new Hello Kitty...
Did you ever loose a fav toy as a child? That you remember that makes you sad for the little kid you used to be?

My vanilla-bean rice-pudding Hello Kitty was very yummy and my lil dude even liked and ate all the dragon fruit butterflies!
(That makes it a success in my book! Seems the key is vanilla bean!!)
This was all made with a knife, a spoon, some water
(and apple nose and plum eyes)
Easy breezy! Just remember to make the rice pudding a bit thick so its easy to shape into whatever you want :)
How to make vanilla bean rice pudding?
Find recipe here.

Inspired by the chocolate and cookies we got downtown Sydney, which were very superbly yummy :)

Little Piglet

I got some amazing disney Winnie the Pooh cookie cutters from a friend and immediately made Piglet from watermelon (body) and apple (face and arms and legs).
Details are just kiwi seeds (eyes) and sultana (mouth)
The flower is grapes and kiwi and persimmon.

I used the cutter for face and body and the rest I sorta just cut with the knife. I use toothpicks to place it in its place but contemplating getting a tweezer for that job :))

Oh my! Oh d-d-d-dear!!

Peppa Gris/Pig Watermelon style!

Hei!

Hey! I made peppa pig watermelon style in my Kids cartoons in food #4.
She was quite simple to make:
I cut the shape of the head, ears, arms and legs in the watermelon.
Strawberries for the dress.
Sultanas for shoes, pupils, and nose.
Banana eyes.
Kiwi grass.
Then you can just sit back and wait for the happy shrieks of whoever you made it for :)

Camilla Pihl and Rilakkuma

This morning when I woke up, I logged on my facebook and I had this link posted several times by friends of mine.
Camillas post about me
Turns out, the magnificent Camilla Pihl
shared my instagram with her readers! That was beyond cool! Made me humble and very grateful.
Thank you Camilla!

In turn, I made Calvin a breakfast sandwich inspired by Camillas iphone cover.

Here is the result :)

Its a almondbutter sandwich, with blueberries, apple, banana clouds and mango-sun. Butterflies of strawberry and apple. Yum :)

Plum Ponyo

We used the first 25 minutes of Ponyo as Calvins bedtimestory for about a year. It worked beautifully. The intro-song is so lovely and made him so sleepy. We have left movie-bedtimes behind and are now reading but he still loves Ponyo! Infact, he loves red heads! Ariel (Little mermaid), Ponyo and Merida (brave).

I think Ponyo is absolutely fantastic!
And this is my homage to the sweetest little girl!

She is made of peach (for face), red plum (for hair and dress), strawberry fins and the rest is sugar plum/plum jelly fish, pineapplesunrays, kiwi and sugarplum seaweeds and grapes as seafloor. Her eyes are almonds and offcuts of plumskin.
Everything is just cut to shape quite easily. The almond eyes took some time to get similar, but the rest was a breeze.

I hope you like her.

If you haven't seen Ponyo, you can see a little here: Ponyo On Youtube

Or buy the movie here.

Totoro!

My son loves Totoro, and has since he was really small!
The intro song makes him jump with joy and he shriek's along with Satski and Mei.
Our daughter Willow was named after Mei, only we chose to write it differently.

Totoro is made of Cinnamon ricepudding, which is why he is fittingly grey-ish <3 data-blogger-escaped-br=""> Made to shape. Cut the sultanas for the nose and eyes and whiskers
~ almond as the eyeballs.
Raining blueberries.
Standing on grape-grass.
Watermelon umbrella.

Ooooh how yummy this dessert was!

We LOVE Totoro!

Be Brave!

Merida from Brave.

We don't let Calvin watch too full on movies (like cars 2 and brave for example!) but there are some parts in those movies that are really cute that he gets to see. Do you screen your kids movies too?

This is just a simple sandwich with grated carrot hair, zuccini cut eyes, cheese face, capsicum lips and lettuce and zuccini body. Cheese stars and zuccini bow and arrow.

It looks far more complicated than it is. I will put together a tutorial for cutting eyes eventually, but thats easy. :)

Sometimes when my son wakes up from his afternoon nap, he is super cranky. And sometimes i have lunch ready and he forgets his crankiness and sits down to eat instead.
Well, not THAT day! Merida ended up on the floor. Poor girl.

Atleast she was brave ;)
